Joel Tan studied Mathematics and Accountancy, but ended up working in the field of Journalism after graduation. He was hired as a Correspondent for The Manila Chronicle, a newspaper in the Philippines, and later became an editor. He is one of those people who has both sides of the brain working mighty fine.
To this day he still has his finger in pies of many different flavors. He does Marketing Communications, Graphic Design, and Web Design and Development for a Public Relations and Marketing company based in the United Arab Emirates. He helps Habitat For Humanity Philippines document its projects in post-Yolanda Leyte. He writes occasionally for some Manila-based publications. On top of it all, he manages Cesky's Bakeshop, a family owned business that has just recently expanded with a second branch in a new location.
With his extensive writing experience that includes working as a blog writer and editor for b5media, an online women's media network acquired by Alloy Digital in 2012, an editor for ABS-CBN News Online, and as part of the newspaper editorial staff at Cebu Daily News, Manila Standard, and The Manila Times, Joel Tan brings much expertise to the table for his current job at GoAbroad. He has also made it his personal mission to ensure that his teammates are properly fed, adopting the habit of bringing freshly baked bread to the office everyday. What he plans to do with his livestock, we have yet to find out.
