Requirements:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), network hardware and software, operating systems (Windows, Linux and Mac), server administration(Linux), and basic scripting/programming skills. Knowledge in virtualization, firewall and storage (SAN/NAS).
  • Troubleshooting Abilities: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential for identifying and resolving network and system issues effectively. Familiarity with network troubleshooting tools and techniques is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for effectively communicating with team members, end-users, and vendors. The ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical language is important when providing user support.
  • Adaptability and Learning Aptitude: The IT industry is constantly evolving, so a willingness to learn new technologies, keep up with industry trends, and adapt to changes is vital.
  • Professionalism and Integrity: Network/System Administrators often deal with sensitive information and have access to critical systems, so professionalism, ethical conduct, and maintaining confidentiality are essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Network Management: Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, IPS/IDS and firewalls. Monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring smooth network operation.
  • System Administration: Assisting in the management and maintenance of servers and systems. This includes tasks like installing operating systems, applying patches and updates, managing user accounts, and configuring system settings including database management.
  • User Support: Provide technical support to end-users by resolving hardware and software issues, assisting with network connectivity problems, and addressing other IT-related concerns.
  • Security Management: Assisting in implementing and maintaining security measures to protect the network and systems. This involves monitoring system logs, identifying vulnerabilities, applying security patches, and conducting regular security audits.
  • Backup and Recovery: Assisting in implementing and managing data backup procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. Performing regular backups, testing backup and recovery processes, and assisting in data recovery in case of system failures or disasters.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation of network and system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and user support processes. Creating and updating technical documentation, network diagrams, and user guides. Generate reports on network performance, system utilization, and security incidents.
  • Monitoring and Performance: Assisting in monitoring network and system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing system resources. Assisting in capacity planning and implementing monitoring tools to ensure optimal network and system performance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other team members, such as senior network/system administrators, IT managers, developers and end users. Participating in meetings, contributing to team discussions, and sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Technology Evaluation: Assisting in evaluating new technologies, tools, and software to improve network and system performance, security, and efficiency. Conducting research, testing solutions, and providing feedback on the suitability and effectiveness of new technologies.
  • Compliance and Policy Adherence: Adhering to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to network and system administration. Ensuring compliance with data protection, privacy regulations, and other relevant policies.
  • Hardware/Software Maintenance and Procurement: Leads in preventive systems maintenance. Assist in evaluating, purchasing, and deploying network hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely resolution of issues.
